COURSE DESCRIPTION             The course is intended to give an overall view to all the relevant functions of a business.  It emphasizes the integrational aspects of the entire business organization and paves the way for functional knowledge to be developed.  It will help to understand and to conceptualize the nature of business and give the necessary orientation to the areas that require a functional specialization later on.

METHODOLOGY                          The course will consist mainly of lectures.  The particular lecture may not coincide with the text assigned for that week, but supplement it.  Therefore, you are recommended to read the assigned text prior to the class meeting in order to be able to differentiate between the lecture and assignments. There will be class discussions, announced and/or unannounced quizzes concerning the current topics related with the course and a case study and/or homework may be assigned.

ATTENDANCE                              75% attendance in all lectures will be observed with no exception.  Failure to attend less than 75% of the lecture hours, for whatever the reason, may cause to loose the right to take the final exam and, thus, of failure from this course.  Medical reports and/or excuses of any nature will not be acceptable for attendance.

GRADING                                     Attendance & Class Participation               5 %

Class participation can add up to 5% to your final semester grade.  Those who participate in class and make intelligent comments will have the possibility to receive this additional mark up.  However, those who do not participate in the discussions do not respond to questions, do not pay attention, are not prepared for the lecture, will not be eligible for this markup.

                                                     Quizzes                                                   20 %

Quizzes, in general, will be unannounced.  Those who are present will be able to take the quiz.  There will be NO MAKEUP quizzes for those missed by the students for any reason.

Case Study & Home Work                          10 %
